HPM FAQ

NO! Unlike traditional insurance that attaches in excess of likely losses and is underwritten based upon the total exposure, Hurricane PM limits are determined based upon projected needs and budget.

Hurricane PM is underwritten by NormanMax Syndicate 3939 at Lloyd's of London (Rated A+ by AM Best).

This is not a requirement for purchase of the product.

We require a minimum of $1,000,000 of total exposed value per residential property.

Every policyholder has different requirements. Some buyers just want to buy a policy to cover their deductible while some may want to buy up to the full value of their home. Talk with your agent to explore all the options.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is a component of the National Weather Service that issues watches, warnings, forecasts, and advisories for hazardous topical weather.

Risk Management Solutions (RMS), a division of Moody’s, is a leading catastrophe risk modeling company founded in 1989 to “create a more resilient and sustainable global society through a better understanding of catastrophic events.”

The calculation agent (Moody’s RMS) will use the RMS HWind modeled windfield as a backup to determine the applicable wind speed.

HWind provides modeled wind field data using a high resolution 1x1km (0.6x0.6mi) grid.

NO!!! A Magnitude 6.0 or greater earthquake can happen anywhere in your state or extended region.
After the earthquake occurs, the policy loss payout amount is determined based on the Maximum Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) as measured by the USGS ShakeMap in your county.

Peak ground acceleration (PGA) is a measure of how intensely the ground moves at a particular location, and depends on, among other factors, the distance from the earthquake’s epicenter, the duration of the earthquake, and the geology of the region.

The epicenter of the earthquake can be several hundred miles from your location; even in a neighboring state. As a policyholder, the PGA intensity as measured in your county and the level of damages you experience are what is most important. As an example, if you live near a fault line and a high magnitude earthquake occurs 300 miles from your location, the ground shaking that you experience could still be severe in your county.
