This job description outlines the role of a Territory Manager (TM) for a remote position based in the greater Houston area with NormanMax Risk Advisors, Inc. DBA NormanMax Insurance Solutions. The TM’s core responsibilities involve driving sales growth within an assigned territory through a combination of relationship-building, strategic planning, and performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospecting & Relationship Building: Initiate and nurture relationships with agents through various means such as visits, meetings, calls, and emails. 
  • Sales Presentations: Deliver presentations to potential agencies and principals. 
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze data to ensure agency profitability and growth targets are met and provide recommendations for business development. 
  • Strategic Development: Collaborate with management to develop and implement state and territory strategies. 
  • Training & Education: Train agents on company guidelines and programs and ensure alignment with profitability initiatives. 
  • Competitive Intelligence: Gather and analyze competitive data to recommend actions. 
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of agency interactions and activities and report essential information and feedback. 
  • Representation: Represent the company at agent functions, trade shows, and conventions. 
  • Travel: Significant travel within the territory is required, including occasional trips to conventions and the corporate office. 

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 5 years in the insurance industry, with 3 years in territory management. 
  • Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience. 
  • Licensing: Insurance industry designations and property/casualty producer and surplus lines licenses are advantageous. 
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
